...So far, everything has been valued at at least twice the price I paid for it, and returns have been refunded within a few days. I returned an opal ring from the website because it wasn't what wanted on close inspection, with no problem. Items do look bigger on screen, so it's useful to have the website open, so you can check the sizes before buying. The selling methods are only that - selling - so you just have to turn the sound down and look objectively at the items, though it's quite entertaining to listen to the presenters. The music gets louder and more frenzied as the price drops, to make you excited and more likely to buy, but if you're that gullible, tough! Again, turn it down!
The documentary about the mining and cutting is interesting and informative too.
None really - just keep your wits about you and don't be tempted into spending too much! I find the ring size N is a bit too big, but can easily be remedied by buying a little thingy that fits on the ring and holds it in place and doesn't show.
I have bought several pieces from this shopping channel - a black diamond cluster arrived with 2 chipped stones but was replaced quickly, and at £399, the ring was valued at £1750... The fact that the same ring went later for only £302 gutted me a bit, but that's the way an auction goes.
The comment on Paraiba Tourmaline being not the real thing is slightly misleading because if you read the Guide to Gems and Jewellery that comes with your first order, under "Tourmaline", it does say that Paraiba Tourmaline was named after the place where it was first discovered, and that when the Brazilian mine was depleted, it was discovered in Africa and Mozambique, where it comes from now. So the information is there, if you look! Items do look bigger on screen, so it's useful to have the website open, so you can check the sizes before buying. The selling methods are only that - selling - so you just have to turn the sound down and look objectively at the items, though it's quite entertaining to listen to the presenters. The music gets louder and more frenzied as the price drops, to make you excited and more likely to buy, but again, turn it down!
