Good interest rates - But, not unique. You can find it other places
I am one of the defunk netbank clients that was taken over by ING DIRECT. First off, they are making us basically start up a new bank account and move our funds over.. The transition has been HORRIBLE.
Their security borders PARANOIA. My parents were with Netbank too, and they wanted my parents to send them their social security card, and mom faxed in the actual card with the perferated edges still intact received from social security, and they WOULDNT EXCEPT IT!
You can only transfer ach transfers to/from checking accounts. Well, thats a bit crippling.
Its not that customer service is bad, they are polite. the problem is, if you hickup the wrong way, they throw you on the GRILL and interogate you... My parents are in their 60s. They had both my parents crying because they wouldn't give them access to their own money they had succesfully transfered from netbank to ING. It JUST DIDNT make any sense. I'm writing this as im currently on support hold waiting for a representive to discuss my moms account. I've been on hold for 20 minutes with this very repetative hold system that doesnt tell you where you stand in the queue.
