It does have an annual fee, and I've encountered some places that do not accept the card. However, I've yet to encounter a highly reputable vendor who did not take the card. Generally speaking, those who do not accept the card are more mom and pop operations or low end vendors.
General Comments
Unbeatable travel services with my American Express Platinum. Breaks down my annual expenses by category, which makes for easy accounting. Free companion First Class/Business ticket when purchased on the card. There are a ton of benefits, but I'll caveat that you need to make enough money to afford the benefits. I recommend this card without reservations. You are likely to find some negative reviews about the company and the card out there.
