Light on system resources.FREE!
No heuristics, so it cannot detect new threats.Poor detection rates compared to other alternatives, including free alternatives.
I have used this for about 18 months on my brothers PC and it uses barely any resources which is great. However, the main purpose of an anti virus is to protect the PC and AVG has scored pretty poorly compared to others in recent AV tests.It does not use heuristics, which means it cannot detect newly or yet to be discovered threats.I replaced AVG on my brothers PC with Avira AntiVir Classic (which is also free) and it detected 3 tro jans that AVG had missed. It is also even lighter than AVG on system resources and it's detection rates are far superior. So from now on, I will recommend Anti Vir instead of AVG for a free antivirus.
