General Comments

I initially got a DB4000 in October of last year, having been very impressed with it's predecessor the DB2000 I was happy to pay the upgrade fee at the end of my contract to replace a handset with a slightly wobbly battery clip.
After a few months I had to take the phone back to the shop for repair after getting SIM FAULT messages. after a repair it seemed ok for about a week until it came up with the same fault again, this was added to by the software on the phone crashing randomly (stopping responding while beeping and vibrating) and the phone turning itself off while in my pocket. the phone went through periods of diminished reception, initially i assumed this was a problem with my network but having checked with other people there were no transmittor problems at that time. after having the phone repaired 3 times i was issued a replacement handset, brand new out of the box. This was approximately 2 months ago and my nice new handset is, again, being repaired while i use a loan phone.

I am always very careful with my phone, it was not dropped or jarred in any way, in less than a year I have gone from being very impressed with NEC phones to never wanting to have one again. I wouldn't recommend this phone to anyone that needs a reliable handset as it is, put simply, not reliable. If you want something to look pretty then it may be more down your street.

I agree, as although I do not have the same faults as you, it is always breaking down. It takes NEC about 1 month to attempt to fix a quite simple problem.

I had exactly the same problems with the phone switching itself off and crashing...so not an isolated incident! I'm now fuming because the phone has stopped working altogether! Conveniently (for someone) just after the warranty ran out. Definitely the last time I buy a NEC phone!
