Going home-at least we were only an hour away!!!!
All of it!!!booked for 3 nights -went home after 1!!!
We initially booked the holiday by saving the £9.50 vouchers out of the Sun newspaper for a budget chalet for three nights for myself,my wife and two children aged 2 and 6...however we decided at the last minute ,thinking it would be a good move, upgraded to the top range of chalet..
Upon arrival we checked in and made our way to our room, entering the sliding patio doors we were dismayed to see our chalet was a mere 6-8 foot away from the crazy golf so day or night to get any privacy you had to keep your curtains closed.....
The so called top of the range room was an absolute disgrace ,dirty and extremely basic ,in fact on closer inspection later of the other rooms(we could have had for £65 pounds less money)there was little if any difference,and we wouldn't have dreamt to even begin to use the cooker...
my wife lost a contact lense and i got down on my hands and knees to the floor to look for it...it was the dirtiest floor i have ever seen in a holiday resort it was full of grit and dirt and if it had seen a brush or mop id be very surprised..after locating the lense i spent the next 20 minutes cleaning the floor so not a good start specially with 2 young kids -i was ready to go there and then but my wife talked me round and i stayed for the sake of the kids who had been so looking forward to their holiday....
we decided to go for food on the site and if we weren't looking at hoodies supping lager as they walked it was gangs of kids effing and jeffing with no regards to any child nearby and this was at the main entrance to the complex...the food place ,either a chippy or a KFC type were both manned by just one member of staff with people queuing a mile long we waited at least half an hour...
the actual "facilities" and entertainment were a joke-moreso the facilities...
amusements with practically nothing in there,a swimming pool with cracked tiles,dirty, leaking roof etc etc
crazy golf , a park and go karts and thats it!!!!!
we did all this in about 2 hours and then had to go to Southport itself to keep the kids occupied and find somewhere clean for them to eat...
the whole place has been stuck in a time warp for about 30 years and is run down, filthy with peeling paint to all exteriors and in my opinion an absolute disgrace,people may think it' s snobbish but i don't think wanting somewhere nice and clean and looked after to be snobbish at all...in fact far from it...
we spent one night in the room both me and my wife were bit by something and we left early evening the next day..and not a minute too soon-my little girl was heartbroken as she had so looked forward to this
very disappointed and would recommend a stay AWAY to people until the whole place is given a much needed makeover!!!!!!
