The Friendly staff who made Cellular Operations Limited the Mobile Phone service provider of the year 2002-2003.
Bad Points
Vodafone buys us in March then makes all redundant taking the Customer base WE THE STAFF helped retain. IT WAS THE STAFF WHO WON MOBILE PHONE SERVICE PROVIDER OF THE YEAR 2002 2003. R.I.P CELLULAR OPERATIONS .
General Comments
I work at Cellular Operations and I can say we treat all our valued customers the way we would be treated. People get upset because they dont always hear what they want to. I can sympathise I had dealing with NTL who are useless. We are closing in December after Vodafone moves the customers to their billing system and we are all losing our jobs you will notice the first stages at http://www.cellops.com. Thanks for all your support over the years!

I worked for Cellular Operations for over a year and I was one of the members of staff made redundant by the company in December 2003. I must say that Cellular Operations Limited were probably the worst company I ever worked for. The company had very poor policies that never worked in favour of the customer and only worked to give the directors even fatter wallets.
As much as the phone operators such as myself respected our customers, our hands were always tied by the strict company policy. The management would never budge in any situation and didn't know the meaning of the word "goodwill". Cellular Operations was only a good company if you never had to call them. The moment you had a problem and called them up, it was most likely to not get resolved due to the big-headedness of the management and directors. The ex-directors knew they had created something which was beginning to get more and more bad publicity and got out when it was safe.
They knew Vodafone only wanted to acquire our customers and made us redundant but they did not care. To be honest, I'm glad the company has been shut down for the customers' sake. However, as much as the company directors and managers did not know how to give customer service, the company did do some good things over its time.
For any ex-cellular customer, please accept my apologies for the terrible service you received and I wish the staff such as myself were given more chance to help its customers. It would have made life much better for both customers and staff.
To the ex-staff (not managers), I hope you have all found better jobs and are happy with your new position. I'm sure you'll all agree with my comments.Toghill on 13th Feb 2004
I used to work there too, for almost five years in fact. I agree with much of the above poster's comments. Back in the days Cellops used to be a good company when there were only about a hundred or so of us and we used to have strict psychometric tests to ensure our customer didn't have to speak to the Muppets that they eventually ended up having to speak to. You only had to look at our company notice board to see that half the staff couldn't even spell their own names properly let alone advise a customer correctly. The company directors were sheep, of the five that weren’t the MD and Ric the “rhymes with brick” sacked MD of Alfa Romeo only the New Business Director and IT Director come out with any credit. The MD and Chairman made all the decisions bar……...none! They certainly made the decision to do a runner with the best part of £20M each worth of Vodafone’s moula!
Middle management at Cellops was very much a joke (as most posters to this group mention) but if you aren’t able to make decisions and the only ones that are made are from the two chief chimps why bother appointing someone with a brain. If you employ someone clever enough to expose the frailties of the existing management structure and personnel, you’re going to have to start opening a very large can of the proverbial worms! I’m pretty sure that we employed an analyst to come in and explain all this to us but he was just ignored! My time at Cellops had gone far beyond just being able to put down to bad experience. The “self-preservation-society” attitude of the “KEY-MEMBERS-OF-STAFF” (what a joke that was) will forever remain something that is permanently etched on the back of my brain. Cellops could have been a good company but its failings to listen to those who knew better will forever be its downfall. Mind you 10 years work, £20M each, not bad work I’d say!

Thankfully one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with is to be scrapped. While I wouldn't wish redundancy on anyone I have to say your comments about the Cellular Operations staff are completely at odds with my experience and the experience of most of these reviews.
