Good Points

Solid, reliable, fun and very wheelieable! Easy to maintain too! MX tracks, enduros, desert trips......it does them all.


Bad Points

No electric start..... but once you master how to start it, it's no problem.....it's one less thing to go wrong. A bit heavier than some bikes but that means it's solid as a rock and if you fall off 100 miles from home nothing breaks and you'll get home ok!


General Comments

I bought my Honda XR400R new in 98 and have rode it on snow, sand, rocks, through rivers, road, deserts and motorcross tracks and have jumped it over tabletops and ski jumps just like my first CR125.....and it's never ever let me down!

I change the oil and filter every 1000km and tyres and chains as and when, and grease it up once a year, but thats it!

If you drop it nothing breaks.....just pick it up and carry on! I've put an aluminium bash plate under the engine for piece of mind and a set of Renthalls, but other than that it's standard, including the baffle in the exhaust.
I love it and along with my 1998 Honda Firestorm VTR1000 (which is also an awsome bike!). I'm not planning to change my bikes just yet!
