Decent spec laptop at an affordable price. Easy to upgrade components like the RAM and Hard Drive. 4 USB ports are handy as is the memory card reader which, with a fast enough card can utilise Vista's Readyboost Technology.
My laptop screen casing has developed a slight fault over time. As I open it the right hand side splits open slightly. This hasn't posed any problems yet but I'm not too happy with it. Dell's driver support seems poor. As of now the latest drivers for my Mobility x1300 are the Catalyst 7.5 drivers which are 5 months out of date.
Overall I'm pleased with my Inspiron 6400. My spec is, Centrino Duo 1.6GHz, ATi Mobility Radeon x1300 Hypermemory 128MB, 1GB Ram, 80GB Hard Drive and a Dual Layer DVD writer.I've used Windows XP, Windows Vista and recently used Ubuntu 7.10 without any problems.
