General Comments

Did you ever notice that the Beeman R9 .20 caliber is usually the gun of choice when chinese springer owners want to compare their air rifles, like after I tuned, spent 150 dollars, or worked on it for 6 weeks, it was as good as an R9 costing a lot more. Well, the R9 is excellant right out of the box. I have put many thousands of shots through mine and have never tuned, worked on, adjusted, or done anything outside of normal cleaning. I think for the majority of people the R9 is more accurate than they are. I am used to shooting springers so the peculiarities of shooting them is not an issue to me. When I am shooting good, I can group less than an inch at 30 meters with this rifle from a field target sitting stance. The .20 caliber is great for squirrel hunting and the R9 has plenty of power to knock them down. I have taken many northeastern USA woodchucks with my R9 at up to 25 yds. Of course woodchucks require a good head shot to kill at this distance, but I have enough confidence in my R9 to go for it.
One point I would like to make is that you really need a good scope with this air rifle. I went through two mediocre scopes before I bit the bullet and got a decent air rifle scope. I suggest that you get a scope air gun rated to a heavy recoil. I got two rated to a medium recoil, one lasted about 200 shots, the other about 1500. I have a Swift Premier on it now and so far have about 6000 or so on it with no problems.
The lighter weight of this rifle compared to similar powered springers is really nice when you are tramping through the woods looking for game. That pound and a half lighter than most other comparable powered springers is appreciated after a long day, believe me.
Overall, a great pest/light hunting airgun, excellant plinker and backyard target rifle, and a hell of alot of fun without spending a fortune.
