The Virginian's Review of Umarex Reck Police (Sig225)
4th Nov 2007
Overall Rating
- Value for money

Looks very authentic
All metal construction
Very well made - should last a long time
Bad Points
Not as powerful or efficient (shots per bulb) as some other CO2 pistols
Limited accuracy
Pretty heavy pull in double action makes it even less accurate
General Comments
Having read everyone else's glowing reports I decided to purchase one of these for myself. Other pistols I already own include a Rohm Twinmaster Trainer, Umarex Beretta 92 and Walther CP99 Compact.
On the plus side it certainly looks & feels very realistic with a nice amount of "heft". It also replicates the safety features of the real one, with a working de-cocking lever and safety position for the hammer. Although the action was a bit sticky/stiff to begin with, it has become much smoother with use. However, in double action the trigger pull is quite high, which doesn't help the accuracy at all.
In fact, I'm afraid to say that isn't all there is by way of bad news. The other reports tend to indicate that this pistol has more power than the other ones from Umarex (e.g. CP88). Well, all I can say is, not in my experience. Compared to my Beretta it is less accurate, less powerful and is totally out of gas after about 70 shots, whereas the Beretta will comfortably handle 100.
The lack of accuracy I can understand due to the shorter barrel length, but the rest is an unwelcome surprise. Less power AND less shots? Hmm. I've tried various pellet types and weights from 7gr up to 10, but the result is always the same: the Beretta beats it.
However, both of these pale in comparison to the Rohm. Now THAT is a class act, but there again considering the price I suppose it should be. Not only is it the most powerful, but it also makes a CO2 bulb last the longest. It is just far more efficient than the Umarex products.
Incidentally, I can't agree with Kiwishooter's info about the Reck having a "special German valve". ALL of my pistols clearly state "Made in Germany" and there certainly isn't anything in its performance to indicate the Reck has anything better. In fact, I do wonder if I've been unlucky and got a bad 'un.
So in conclusion, and based solely on my own experience, I would say that the Reck is great to look at and to hold, but leaves you feeling just that little bit disappointed when using it.
