Beautifully over-engineered under lever, hand finished, rimfire quality steal, beautifully visible choking, incredible rifling, perfectly aligned smooth and functional loading tap, extremely accurate, light & fast handling. Strips like a dream and reassembly is just as easy. Arguably the best air rifle ever made.
Models prior to 1964 are of better quality but lack a scope rail, some might find the cocking strenuous.
The recent coverage given to the Webley MK3 on air rifle magazines has meant that some dealers have decided to drive the prices up to an extremely unreasonable £ 400 for examples that are far from perfect. I have just bought (September 2007) a near mint Webley MK3 (1957-61 "series 3") for £145! Which I feel is a good and fair price. Earlier "first" and "second" series Mk3s can fetch a little more in mint condition (£160-170) but if you are paying anything more you are being ripped off.
If you are looking at buying a post 1961 Mk3 (with scope rail) pay £ 50-60 for a well used example, £ 70-80 for one in good gondition and £ 90-120 for an example in very good to mint conditions. Remember that to get the best out of these rifles you will need to strip them, clean them, and change the leather washer on the piston. To do this you will probably spend another £ 30-50 in parts, various oils and cleaning accessories as well as many days hearing your girlfriend moaning that you love your gun more than her!!!! ;)
