Top Notch's Review of Cellular Operations
3rd Sep 2003
Overall Rating
- Value for money

Nice itemised invoices (which they charge you for)
The phone worked but I suspect that had more to do with the fact it was made by Nokia than anything this bunch of monkeys did
Bad Points
Efficient at charging you.
Offering free things which might have been free but were accompanied by large processing charges.
General Comments
After answering a market research survey about mobile use Dialaphone(CellularOps) contacted me to inform me that I had won a free phone and accessories. Great I thought, except for the fact that it cost me about £200 per year for three years and I was locked in for a minimum of a year's contract. I kept with them through pure laziness.
A rip off and at least three subsequent offers were poorly handled by them. Two of these were instances of charge reduction/removal which were later withdrawn. The other was a free upgrade to aa new phone (which of course was accompanies by a substabncial charge which later had to be credited when they withdrew the offer saying it was in error)
Despite seemingly generous free call and text minutes I never actually made a call that didn't cost me money. When I asked to cancel I had to write giving thirty days notice.
This letter was sent on 14th of July and I have just received a September invoice charging me £2 for sending me a sheet of paper with the words "final invoice" on which contains no other charges.
In the end I didn't use the phone for 9 months and they continued to bill me without hesitation.
When I rang to cancel they were awkward and it took three calls. The ops were still trying to get me to sign up with another package after all the rubbish I had been through with them.
Shortly after taking out the contract they switched to fancy invoices and added a charge for these.
Another trick they used was to send me a letter stating that I would be given phone insurance and of course my a/c debited for a a £5 a month. If I didn't want this I had to send back a form to them! I wonder how many people just didn't respond because they didn't get round to it or notice.
I would recommend strongly that people do not use these plebs (not what I wanted to write here! :). I certainly won't do ever again.
I am not someone who usually gets worked up about these things, but this lot were awkward from day one. Receiving an invoice with no charges and getting billed £2 for it was the final straw. It just makes me so annoyed.
