Good Points

A great little 28cc cow horn brushcutter / strimmer at a budget price BUT...

Bad Points

Poor reliability and build quality let it down

General Comments

The Spear & Jackson SPJBC28 is basically a good little budget brushcutter / strimmer which will deal with most types of work.

The main problems are down to poor build quality and poor standard of components, as it's only badged as Spear & Jackson, but built to a budget in Taiwan. Some spares can be a problem (do not try to phone Spear & Jackson, as they know nothing about this model, as it's a special Argos one). I ended up with a complete new engine assembly under warranty, as spares were not available. Have found the support line staff quite helpful, but there is not anyone really to talk to if you have a slightly more technical query.

You could buy one of these and it just keeps working, but you could also get one that keeps breaking down. They are worth looking at if you have got heavy weight ground clearance to deal with and are willing to accept the possible reliability problems; only buy when Argos have got a large discount on them though.
