All day wristbands are good value An amazing variety of rides
None
This place is fantastic! For a start its right by the sea, which gives the whole place a brilliant sea-side/holiday atmosphere. The park itself is quite compact with coasters intertwining with each other creating a quite spectacular sight.(even better at night!). ENTRY You have a choice of whether you "pay as you go" (using tokens) for rides, or buy an all day wristband. As a family of 5, (2 adults, 3 kids aged 4, 8 and 15) we bought wristbands for myself and my 15 year old daughter, and two kids all day ones for the littlies. My hubby doesn't really do rides and was just there to supervise, so he bought tokens for the rides where it was necessary to accompany the children. Tip: If you buy wristbands online in advance you can save around £10 each! RIDES Wow the rides are Fab!! As I've been before we made a B line for the new infusion ride. It's similar to nemesis in that its one of those hanging coasters, but it seemed much faster. I have to say we didn't pay much attention to the water aspect of the ride only when queuing up! None the less this ride is awesome, well worth a go.The queue for this was fairly long, about an hour, and I noticed there was only one train running. Next we went on the Big Dipper and I took my 8 year old on this. She loved it! This was her first time on a roller coaster, don't think it'll be the last. There's something very nostalgic about wooden roller coasters. I can imagine my grand parents going on them when they were state of the art 40 years ago! They're just great. Next we went on "The Big One". This is great, its soooo high, you get a great view from the top. It's a little rickety but seems to go on forever! A must if you go to the pleasure beach. Next we went on the Steeplechase. You sit on a carousel type horse and go individually along a tubular track. There are 3 tracks, but only 2 were working.I have to say I found this so rickety and when it jerked suddenly round corners - I honestly thought I was going to fall off! My 15 year old found this hilarious. Next up we went on the Space Invader, an indoor coaster, which is in the dark all themed around space, It was quite fun and reminded me a lot of the old Black Hole that used to be at Alton Towers. Next up we went on th Iron Bru revolution which is a one tracked looped roller coaster where you go one way then backwards - just like the gone but not forgotten thunder looper at good old Alton Towers. Then we went on the Avalanche, nice smooth ride which is themed around a bob sleigh and swiss mountains.Good fun this one and suitable for those who are not hard core thrill seekers. Valhalla next. This ride is ace. Its a log flume type ride - and then some. You sit in Viking long boats and travel, mostly in the dark, through different lands and ages, taking in the atmosphere of water, fire and Ice. The theming is superb and so is the infrastructure. A brilliant ride, but warning: You do get VERY wet, so take something waterproof - alternatively you can buy a disposable mac for a quid in the queue line. Brilliant this can't praise it enough. We then met up with the others and went on the derby racers, which is basically a carousel but instead of the horses being traditionally gold, they are modeled on race horses. Built in the 1950's I seem to recall, so like the "woodies" very nostalgic and great fun. We then all went on the ghost train which my 4 year old son loved. As ghost trains go - this one is top of its tree. very good. The younger kids and my husband had been having a great time as there are lots of kiddies rides for them to enjoy. They particularly liked the Alice in Wonderland ride, Noah's ark and the amazing Flying Machines - built in 1904 - WOW!!. We didn't go on ice blast, cos we were too scared, but I have been on it before and seem to remember it was good fun but scary... Neither did we go on the Grand National as it appeared not to be running, which was a shame as this is great woodie. We returned the following evening just to have one last go on the big one and infusion before going home the next day, and found it much much quieter - no queues to speak of, so I think next year we'll go at night. Also the park looks stunning all lit up. We bought tokens this time as we were only intending to go on a couple of rides - but beware as this can work out expensive. £8 each to go on the Big one and the same for Infusion. All in all Blackpool Pleasure Beach is great theme park, crammed with new and old rides - something for everyone. If you go to Blackpool Its a must. I want to make it a yearly fixture for myself and the family so can't wait till next year !!!!!
