Good Points

The price was competitive.

Bad Points

This is without question a poorly designed machine with parts cobbled together from two different manufacturers (when Maytag took over another company).

General Comments

Like so many others who have owned this machine, it has soured me on the Maytag reputation. We've had three service calls already and the machine is dying again (it has a recurring deafening roar during the spin cycle). When it finally goes, we'll purchase another brand, but never again Maytag. Maytag should have stepped up and recognized that this product was poorly designed from the outset. Instead they seem to have gone of their way to not accept responsibility (viz. the necessity for the Neptune series washer class action suit to move Maytag to take corrective action). Now that Maytag is owned by Whirlpool, I hope the quality will improve. Just don't count on me as a customer.

This is an update to my previous review. This machine has finally quit working. It started leaking water from the bottom (I presume around the seals that were previously repaired). I tried to call Maytag for service advice before dispatching a repair person to look at the machine, but they have effectively insulated themselves from my customer interaction by making me jump through myriad electronic hoops. We're shopping tonight for a replacement to this less-than-5-year-old machine and, needless to say, we won't be looking at Maytags.
