GREAT game for the money - ya can't beat free.
Large age range.
This is my favorite game online. It's awesome. Obviously, I highly recommend it. Heck, I'd pay to play it but thankfully don't have to. There are other options to purchase, but they aren't necessary to enjoy the game in its intended fashion. You aren't at a great disadvantage if you don't purchase add ons.
Addictive, sneaky little game, lots of fun, easy to play, tough to master. The only downside is the age range. Many people don't mind this, but I'm 30 and sometimes it's a little annoying also playing with a much younger crowd (as young as 10) who can't spell and who never seem to lose their noob status. Most, I think, are late teens to early 20's. So, it's not so bad.
Slow to start, the worlds can last for years, so you don't get to "do everything" right off the bat. It's hard to wait sometimes. At the same time, this is also a benefit because you can only devote so much time to the game.
