CONSISTANT ACCURACY
QUIET (with Silencer)
LOVELY SMOOTH BOLT OPERATION (with reccommended accupels)
NOT A LIGHTWEIGHT (with scope and silencer)
No other bad point
I have only owned the Logun mk 2 Professional .22 air rifle (Carbine version) for only two days having driven 300 miles to pick one up 2nd hand.
It had a Simmons 2-7 x 44 scope and the standard Logun silencer and as a package together with a bottle of air was pretty good value.
I have over 20 years experience shooting "springers" but less than 48 hours with a pneumatic. Previously I have had a few shots with the Air Arms S410, Webley FX2000, Career 707 (at 80ft/lbs the pellets were going supersonic !!) and a BSA super 10 and could not believe how different they were to a springer. Not just the lack of recoil but lack of noise too !! This had to be the way to go !!!
I had read very favourable reviews in the UK airgun magazine on the Logun Mk 2 and considered it to be a dream gun - in the same league as the Ripley (but more reliable !!). I had heard bad reports of pellets jamming but having read through the book that came with the gun it reccomended Accupels and a little bit of common sense would suggest that either longer or shorter pellets and possibly flat headed pellets may not get picked cleanly by the gate. Rest assured though, the Accupels pour through smoother than a pint of Theakstons old peculiar.
I don't know of many guns that sell with a book but a manual is there to be read and possibly would have avoided pellet jamming. Another nice feature is a rotating "dust cover" which protects the air filler valve - because it is fixed there is less chance of it dropping off when shooting in the field.
This version was the shorter carbine but still seemed a big gun - a little too heavy for my 10yr old son but when he used a tripod he was also cutting 1" groups at 25 yards ... and thought this was normal of all guns !
So then dad had a turn ...
After the first dozen shots at 30 yards all grouped within a fingernail I could not believe what was possible after such a long time away from airgunning.
I took the gun to the local gun club having fired less than 20 shots and got roped into competing in and winning the monthly competition.
Congratulations to Jim Logun for a fantastic gun allowing mere amateurs to obtain scores that previously we could only dream about.
