Good Points

Unlimited bandwidth and multiple domains can be hosted.


Bad Points

Non-standard server set-up, weird MySql set up, limited features, very poor service, dreadful downtime, rubbish support.


General Comments

I took a punt with Streamline.net - I needed a UK based host that offered multiple domain hosting and good bandwidth. I should have taken more notice of the amount of testimonials on the site which are now parked or dead domains. I paid for a two year bulk package as this was the best value. Whilst they offer a refund, you're basically over a barrel. If you use FTP or mail (the basics of trying out your hosting) then you forfeit your right to a refund. It looked good, so I jumped in...

From the off, their site is sluggish, missing most of the basic features you'd expect from a web host and have a site that insists on opening new windows every two seconds. Support takes on average 24 hours to reply and when they do it's pretty much cut and paste uselessness.

The second weekend my site was up the server went down for the whole weekend and well into Monday morning. Obviously nobody was on site to reboot the servers. Luckily for me, I was using this host to develop a test site so no proper content was on it. If I had a store on the same server - I'd be crying.

Nothing seems to work as standard, basic things like setting up MySql and users in obfuscated by their icky control panel software, There's no stats, scripts are a nightmare to install, and something up with their PHP set up as a site that works on all my other hosts was throwing up errors galore.

I'm not a newbie when it comes to hosting - I have 5 hosts at present I use in both the UK and US. I've tried many other hosts as well over the years. This has to be the worst experience I've had with a web host, and it's cost me nearly 200 quid for the pleasure due to their naff refund policy.

    I found this review helpful because...It seems pretty cool and factual rather than emotive and has some good points. I liked his "Dead domain" in the testimonials method of evaluating a service.
