Rare/unusual, powerful, reliable, great sound from the triple. Loads of torque, loads of top end. Looks great. It's British!
Bad Points
Has been discontinued. Harder to buy/sell second hand parts. Run a little hot (nothing serious though).
General Comments
Bought a Triumph 955i Daytona as my first big bike. I've loved every second of owning it. I've taken it through 8 countries and the Alps in Europe and have done 14 laps on the Nurburgring. It really holds it's own against other well known heavies on the street, though being a bit older now, I'm sure on a track that a modern Japanese bike would out-handle it.
Really reliable. I've ridden it hard for extended periods of time, through rain, heat, cold, the lot. Hasn't missed a beat.
Works well as a tourer and is very fuel efficient on the motorway, but is also great as a street bike or even on the track. The power/torque is there right from idle, so you don't even need to touch the throttle to pull off.
The bike runs a bit hot, and the fans will come on if you're stuck behind a truck or van for 10 mins, though I rode through the south of France mid august when it was 35C, and it didn't overheat, so it's not a serious problem as such.
I'm gutted Tirumph currently has made no announcement in terms of a replacement. They have released the Daytona 675 which is fantastic bike, but there's no liter equivalent available from Triumph. Looks like I'll have to go for an SP2 or 1098 next.
