General Comments
Just bought a S/H Daystate Harrier Air Rifle- approx 5 years old complete with silencer and Simmons Deerfield 3-9x50 scope.
Traded in a Weirauch HW99S which I had bought new 6 months ago and which was giving me accuracy problems due to 'bounce' and despite the addition of scopes I was struggling for consistency.
Having been a regular shot for 30 plus years I had always favoured the break barrel spring system air gun and the Daystate was my first experience of a Pre Charged Gun. I was not disappointed.
Complete with Hills pump and an optimum charge of 2200 psi my first effort with the rifle was outstanding. A clean grouping within 2 inches at 40 metres and an absolutely still mechanism.
Excellent trigger (2 stage set fairly light but adjustable) and no appreciable barrel noise on discharge (to the point I wondered whether the rifle had the 'oomph' that I was looking for!)
I needn't have worried - my target backing of 6mm hardboard was easily pierced at that distance (and further) and removal of the silencer for a number of shots gave a more resounding sound to the weapon.
Mainly used as a garden plinker, I have taken ground sitting Magpies with head shots at similar distance and 'ratted' at upto 25 yards with great success.
Best accuracy has been with Superdome pellets and while a heavier 'hunting' variety has been less consistent I guess it is a case of 'horses for courses'.
All round fantastic gun and I have no hesitation in recommending it.
