I will never, ever, ever buy anything from John Lewis!
We looked at a John Lewis American Fridge (produced by Electrolux), and on an initial in-store consultation, we have been told that it will take two weeks to get it delivered to us, and that the best thing to do is to, instead of purchasing it in the Oxford Street store, we should purchase it out of the Brent Cross Store, as they have few in stock. From Oxford Street we hopped back on the trains and buses to get to the Brent Cross Store. But not only did they not have any in stock, they did not have any on display either, and an 18 year old kid was the only person available to talk to us, who suggested we purchase it online, as we will get an even shorter delivery time and a case of wine for free. So we hop on the bus and trains again, got back home and found out that Visa Electron is not acceptable for purchasing online. We should give it up then, but we really liked the fridge! So back to Oxford Street the next day. We paid for the fridge, and we were then informed it will take 6 - 8 weeks to get it delivered!
So I rang up Electrolux, who informed me that they do have these fridges in stock, and that they do not know why have I been told that waiting time is 6 - 8 weeks. I rang John Lewis, who took all my details and of course never called back. So, 5 days later, I called Electrolux again, who told me that they did not have an order from JL for my fridge. So I rang JL again, who "needed some time" to look into this. Miraculously, John Lewis called back and told me that my fridge will be delivered in couple of days time, between 7 am and 6 pm. So, my sister (Uni student waited the whole day for the fridge (which btw comes in 4 parts). I came back home and found that the fridge had not been put together properly, was scratched and did not look new at all. So I called JL again, who told me to call Electrolux, whose engineer showed up 2 days later and advised that we should ask JL for a new fridge. So I called JL again: they could not find the engineer's report, and then advised (AGAIN) that the fridge is in production and will take couple of weeks for me to get it. So I called Electrolux, who advised me that they do have them in stock and can deliver them tomorrow providing that they get order from JL. JL refused to talk to me for 3 weeks. Two days ago I got a call from Electrolux about delivery of my fridge, but there is no mention of taking the other one back. I have a fairly small kitchen and no room for two American fridges. So I called JL again, who told me that they can take the fridge away once the new one gets delivered. When I asked them who I should use to move the old one and where should I store the old one, I was told it was not their problem!!!!
Needless to say, that purchasing that fridge was the last thing I bought from John Lewis. If I only knew then what I know now, I would have bought it from an online retailer I used for purchasing my washing machine - they even called me 2 weeks ago to check if everything is working fine!
