A classy magazine, that has been around for years, with some issues simply brilliant.
Bad Points
None really, other than as a British Car magazine, the number of foreign cars covered sometimes exceeds the number of British cars! Occasionally, the same specific car is covered in another major magazine, which is annoying but understandable.
General Comments
Having taken Classic & Sports Car magazine for over twenty years, I still look forward to it. The coverage of classic motorsports events is sometimes a bit thin, but the articles are generally worth a read and as with most magazines, the photographs are excellent. It is a well balanced magazine, with most enthusiasts probably wanting less of one thing and more of another.
With the recent emergence of Octane, and with Classic & Thoroughbred having been around since September 1973, maybe these early pioneers need to establish a point of difference, as they do cover the same ground and even have the same adverts - a necessary evil I suppose, as most magazines are largely funded by the adverts rather than the sales.
As with other UK produced magazines, by the time they arrive in NZ, some six weeks later, the cover price is rather high, and that does rather limit sales to those on a tough budget, but it is a good magazine and always has been. I'll keep buying every issue as long as I can afford to.
