Good Points

Looks excellent, MPH speedometer, 13" wheels, light weight and really entertaining to ride on back roads.

Bad Points

Small fuel tank, a lot of people have the Yamaha version, difficult to start after being on holiday for a week and centre stand can be a hassle.

General Comments

I purchased the MBK Nitro 100 which is almost the same as the Yamaha Aerox 100. I needed to get to work and back but at 17 hadn't passed my driving test and properly wouldn't for 4-6months, a solution was needed. And a solution was a scooter it meant I didn't need to get on a bus and could have a bit of independence, but I'm cheap and so went on eBay looking for a bargain, found a 05 MBK nitro and after inspecting it first my bid won it for a bargain price.

My first impressions were good, it was mechanically sound and looked good. The seat is higher than other scooters and feel in a more natural position when on the move with the added bonus that it has good under seat storage for a helmet and gloves. I wouldn't want to be a pillion passenger on it as you would sit over the fuel filler cap. I did my CBT at night (seriously) and found that peoples moaned about the headlights being poor were mis-founded although I do think the mirrors are a little small. With Brembo brakes and Paloli suspension my ride to work along some lovely country roads makes Mondays seem nicer, the buzzy little 2-stroke engine makes you feel like your going faster than you really are and doesn't sound to bad. At least the engine is fixed to a scooter which is meant to sound like a buzzing bee and not a sports bike with a 2-stroke engine which makes it's rider look a bit of a prat. It's a good look riding a Triumph Daytona with a beefy 675 engine note but note a buzzy 125cc Aprilia RS.
The woes about it not starting are misfounded I've found, it didn't start without a fight after I'd left it for a week but starting day to everyother day it works fine, but I do always warm it up a little before going off which can get a bit irritating, coming out of collage after only an hour standing in the rain I had to let it warm up so it wouldn't stall which has not become a habit. For the ultimate in style then a manual Vespa blows the nitro/aerox into the wind but, for peace of mind reliability, (not just engine but everything as well) French style and economy the MBK/Yamaha an all around winner.
