Good Points

Great battery life, sound and picture quality


Bad Points

The DAB radio just does not work. I took the matter up with the suppliers who informed me that the firmware on the device only supports 40 DAB stations. Currently a scan in Swanley produces 52 stations. There is an update available, but this only supports 50 stations so still useless for the London area. Further updated firmware to support up to 60 stations is promised and hopefully that will cure the problem There is no facility to delete an individual station from the list so you cannot manually reduce the list to 50 or less. The FM radio works well, but there is no station ID with it, something which should be provided in a device in the higher price bracket. I would not recommend anyone buying it until the DAB problems have been sorted.


General Comments

There has clearly been no field testing of the device, something which is essential for a portable DAB. It should never have been released for sale with its present available firmware. Buyers are not being warned of the problems with the Cowon D2 - a disgraceful state of affairs. It is a pity about the radio content as otherwise the device is brilliant. The suppliers advised that I could keep the scanned radio stations to 50 or less by removing the aerial/headphones before the end of the scan, but this results in none of the BBC stations being obtainable. As I particularly wanted radio five sports extra this was not a helpful suggestion.
