Very smooth. I am an instinct shooter and still use my 48" recurve often. The Oneida bow with a low let off is the only "semi-compound" bow I can snap shoot at partial or full draw just like shooting a standard recurve, but without the extreme pinch of the recurve as you approach full draw.
Mine is an older one that weighs 5.5 lbs. They are now making them of machined aluminium and weigh about half that...still not the 12 oz of my recurve, but much easier to handle.
This bow puts a lot of power into an arrow, very efficient and accelerates the arrow smoothly. I still make and use Port Orford cedar arrows and you can drop down one to two spine weights with this bow compared to a recurve that slams the arrow with the full 70 lbs of force at the start of the release. The magnesium riser model is more expensive than the aluminium riser version, but well worth the extra cost if you are going to be lugging it through the woods all day. That will probably be my next upgrade to my 30 year old Oneida Black Eagle.
