General Comments

The D80 has been out for over a year now - and you still haven't bought one? As the adverts say, What are you waiting for? And all the digital camera reviews I've seen say the same! If you can't run to this price go for the D40X. But if you want the best DSLR for its price, this is it. From the moment you first put it in your hand, you will know it is just so right. The standard kit lens (18-135) is the one to go for, perfectly acceptable for most occasions. If you don't want to do any work, leave it on Auto, but for most, exploring the manual possibilities is a joy. Image quality is excellent but you'll need a big SD card. For most operations, aperture, ISO and shutter speed etc. the dials and buttons are intuitively placed and easy to use, but if it's on a menu, you'll find these clear and simple - although there are so many customisable options. No matter. Get out there and practice and learn the more complicated aspects as you go. Wonderful kit, thoroughly recommended.
