Good Points
Picture quality is excellent as is upscaled standard definition dvds. Sound is top notch. Will play any HD DVD's from any country.

Bad Points
Unable to play my huge collection of region 1 standard definition DVD's. No 1080p output. Needed to update the firmware as encountered problems with cd's and s/d dvd's but Toshiba quickly sent me the necessary disc (or you can do it over the internet) and it worked a treat.

General Comments
The lack of 1080p output on the Toshiba HD-E1 is fine with me as my plasma can only display up to 1080i. Gutted at the lack of region 1 s/d dvd but in general very pleased with the performance. The price is now very low, so now's a good time to dive in as the price is right. Bogging shame Block Buster video don't rent HD DVD's.
