syediw6's Review of Pogo Drive Satellite Navigation System

Good Points

Good bright colours on screen. Loud enough. Many devices like this have adequate navigation, but hopeless camera software. Well, the camera software is brilliant.

1. Many options to customise individual settings e.g. volume
2. Nice bright colours
3. Bright screen during day
4. Faultless camera software
5. Secure windscreen grip
6. Good clear volume

Bad Points

Not very logical menus - but you get used to them.

Mapping not great. Not logical to use mapping. Finding an address is not predictive ie. you enter a post code and then press ok. It doesn't display at that point what road that post code was pointing to before you select it. You enter the post code and nothing happens at all for 20 secs, then it just accepts that post code without conforming the address - see what I mean? It's not logical!

1. Screen never gets dark enough even at its lowest setting for night time driving - very, very annoying and distracts from safe driving.
2. When mounting the unit on the cradle it's stiff and cumbersome to use and also you have to take another step to plug in the power lead to the Pogo Drive first. It'd make much more sense to connect the power straight to the cradle once instead. This sounds like a minor point, but is massively annoying in every day use and doesn't encourage you to remove the device over short stops. Please take a look at a Garmin for an example to a great cradle.
3. The POI couldn't find many places - e.g. the Trafford centre in Manchester - that's a very big and obvious place. It insists on only finding places near to you rather than any place you desire. I'm sure that this isn't to do with me not using it correctly as I called you for assistance and still couldn't make it work.
4. Quite big compared to other similar devices.
5. Compared to other satnav devices out there, it was not great in general use.
6. Crashes very frequently and get "Application Program error - Pogo.exe" (unsure of the exact message). Need to reset to fix.
7. Slow to react to speed changes - not good when you need to be 100% sure and accurate as you pass a camera. E.g. when you approach a camera and brake, it still reads the speed you were doing before you started to brake for far too long. Much slower than B2 used to be - perhaps an external antenna may help?
8. Too expensive compared to other similar devices.
9. For a device that costs £300 it's a bit stingy not to provide a case when other devises half it's cost do so.
10.Lacks an instant mute button like the B2
11.When using in SatNav mode, the Posted speed limit and the speed you are doing are too far apart and too small - too much for the eye to take in when driving.

General Comments

I purchased my Pogo Drive after swapping it in for my Origin B2. I had been very impressed with the B2 and so, I thought I'd give the new Pogo equipment a go.

My main criterion was that it had to be a very accurate camera spotter and less importantly, it had to be reasonably decent satnav for the very occasional use.

I was very impressed with the camera software - it never missed a camera. It was easy to update, but even though I could rely on it spotting cameras, I couldn't rely on the speed read out.

There were just too many annoying things about it.
