General Comments

I first toyed with the idea of part exing my Minolta 404SI, lenses and flash, but decided to keep them and buy an average Digital. My budget was £200 and I was advised 3MP was ample for a first digital camera. I bought this Olympus Mju-300 digital camera four days ago in Jessops after much research through magazines & web sites. It was a toss up between this and a Canon A70. The Olympus won on build quality and pocketability. The Canon battery cover was very flimsy, plus reports on your previous reviews about parts being easily scratched. A local shop was asking £270 and Jessops was £289, Argos want £350, all bar a couple of pence. The local shop in Swansea was not able to do a price match with Amazon (£229)but Jessops sold it to me for £230 and £40 for a 128MB XD Card, which was £50, but again did a price match for me. I am very happy with my purchase so far. I haven't seen my own results but I have seen other peoples with the same camera. Nobody seems to have the stick on display protectors though.

I've been considering the Canon A70 and been put off by other reviews; I already have a mju-II 80 (35mm compact) with a weather-proof case, so the mju-300 appeals to me.

Is lack of manual features on this camera a problem?
