Good Points

Easy to use and produces excellent photographs, which can easily be enlarged to A3 on a good quality printer. The chip gives a magnification of 1.6 times, compared to a full frame 35mm camera. This increases the zoom on all your lenses, ideal for wild life photography, it also uses the centre of the lens to focus which tends to give a sharper image. Battery life is excellent. A well laid out instruction manual as you would expect from Canon. Plenty of accessories and suitable lens manufacturers will supply lenses at varying prices to meet all pockets and budgets.

Bad Points

Not as robust as some of Canon's cameras, needs to be treated with care. The 1.6 times magnification can sometimes be a bit of a pain, if you want to take wide angle photographs indoors for example. The price at the time was a little on the expensive side compared to Canon's current EOS 5D and other cameras, but digital chips etc have now got cheaper.

General Comments

At the time it came out into the market place it was a well designed camera, with all the bells and whistles, and ease of use. It was and still is suitable for the amateur to the professional. I have had mine now for over 3 years, and it has never failed to impress me with the photographs it produces. Obviously things have moved on, and there are better Canon cameras out in the shops now.
