Good points? Hmmm... Well, the headline rates are cheap, I suppose. And calls to voicemail are free.
Lack of signal in many areas.
The way signal fades when inside buildings - so, if you're in a big shop or mall, for example, you quite often have little or no signal.
The way signal drops off in mid-call.
Scandalous charges for data use and accessing the internet.
No data packages available at all (despite Virgin staff telling me they were looking into this, 10 months later nothing has happened. I guess, because why should Virgin care when they can sting users with their current prices?)
The way they have repeatedly dropping me off roaming when I have been abroad. On more than one occasion I have had to borrow someone else's mobile, on a different network, to ring Virgin in the UK and ask why I can't make calls. They have gone "oh dear, sorry about that - we'll reset things from our end". And yet the next time I go abroad it happens again.
Ridiculous, over-the-odds prices for using your phone abroad. These would be bad enough with a decent service; but with the abysmal service (see above) I have received, it is disgraceful.
Despite the headline low prices, using Virgin Mobile turns out to be scandalously overpriced, patchy, unreliable and, frankly, embarrassing (when you have to borrow other people's mobiles to get your roaming switched on when you're abroad).
Do not touch it, unless you only want to make calls and send texts in the UK. When you're outside and not in a building. And when you're in one of areas covered by the network (i.e. nowhere rural). And if you don't mind calls suddenly ending in mid-sentence.
