Queues reasonable, lots of free stuff. Great time.
Food. Not our kind of food and on the whole expensive (like all theme parks though). We took picnic for first day and fruit to eat while we were there. We also took water bottles for the kids as ours don't drink lots of fizzy drinks.
The price we paid for Alton Towers online was very good for an all inclusive package, including B&B at Splash Landings Hotel, 2-day tickets for 4 and passes to waterpark (GBP160). There was something for everyone including 2 cowardly adults, a 10 year old and a 3 year old. There was even stuff to do when it rained. Queues weren't bad and we got complimentary priority passes, which we used at the end of the day to jump the queues for the last half hour. That was the only time we needed to use them as otherwise we more or less walked straight on (although note we didn't go on the big rides as we are too cowardly). The grounds were nice, including the gardens. Free presents for the kids (swim bags) left on their beds in the hotel. Lots of free (take them home) toiletries. We had a lovely time all in all. AT was much better than we expected. We're not hard core theme park people and we really enjoyed ourselves. Better than Butlins, not as expensive as Center Parks, loads better than EuroDisney. We'll definitely go again. I think what we'll do is buy a Tussauds pass though when we go again.
