Morgan Stanley wrote to me letting me know that I would receive 2% cashback on all purchases made in June & July.

When I got my June statement, only 1% cashback had been added. I phoned Morgan Stanley, who told me that the additional cashback would be added to the next statement.

When I received my July statement the 2% cashback had not been added, so I phoned Morgan Stanley again. This time I was told that the 2% cashback would be added at the end of the offer period (end of July).

When I received my August statement the 2% cashback still had not been added. So, I rang Morgan Stanley again, and this time I was told that they were aware of the problem, the extra cashback was being added manually to the relevant accounts, and she could not give me any time scales for when I would receive the cashback, not even whether it would be weeks, months or years!!!


General Comments

In such a highly competitive market why do Morgan Stanley believe that customers will put up with such dreadful customer service?

And what does it say about their IT system that they are having to adjust a large tranche of accounts manually? Doesn't inspire confidence, does it?
