General Comments

I brought Tasco Varmint 6-24x42 riflescope when it first came out, I was very impressed with its spec, fully coated optics, BDC turrets, Parralax, mil dot, shockproof, fog proof, waterproof. All in all a very strong and hard wearing scope. The Zoom ranges from 6 times to 24, usually when hunting I keep it on 6x, or maybe 8x (usually when static hunting) having a scope with such high mag isnt really needed for hunting, but at the time I could afford it so I brought it - lol. the features, as I said BDC turrets, which means you can click to zero the rifle, and once thats done, you can work out the different ranges, (say 10 yards is 5 clicks, you just turn the turret 5 clicks, and aim dead on your target, because the scope has a mil dot crosshair, I havent bothered with this, using the different aim points at different ranges instead. the glass is coated, which gathers light, no need for a massive 56mm front end here! the front of the scope holds a ring, that has different distances on it, using this you can get perfect clarity on your target at any given range, this is known as parralax, this scope with range from 10m to infinity. the scope is one piece construction, so its very strong, it has a 1inch body with 42mm front end. like I said its a long scope so its ok on pre-charged rifles, or say, an Air Arms TX200. I have the scope mounted on a Weihrauch HW97k on one piece mounts and it looks and shoots pretty impressively. the price? peanuts! I brought mine for £120

Well you should have waited a little; they're selling for about £85 now. As a budget scope it must be considered to be a good buy. However the AO was very tight and dificult to rotate on the one I bought, but I baged a tree-rat within minutes of setting-up the scope on a AAS400K. They make a nice combo.

I would be interested in what other scopes people have used whom are giving comments on this scope. I remember years ago and buying my first adult airgun "RWS 34" which I placed a RWS 4 x32 airgun scope upon it. At the time I would have stated it was an excellent scope with great optics. After looking though higher end scopes I realized this RWS scope was fair at best. So knowing what people have them to compair with will add so much to their reviews.
I see these Tasco scopes are very cheap and am interested in getting one for a gift.
    Thanks

I am in Canada and bought a Barska with the same specs. It was about half the money of the Tasco, and when I compared it, side by side in my friend's hunting store, I couldn't tell a difference (Maybe the same factory, different name?). It is a great scope, and I'd gladly pay twice as much if I couldn't find it cheaper. The adjusting is tight, and losens up, so I am glad it's tight to start with. Recoiling doesnt kill the settings.

Hmmm I didn't think a Tasco Varmint scope would hold up on an Air Rifle very long? Thought you were to use Air Rifle rated scopes on air rifles (maybe this is? LOL) I also have a HW 97-K in .177 caliber and broke my Redfield on it!

I then bought a Simmons ProAir 6-18X40 for 148 bucks from Mid America USA (listed at 179 I think)and mounted it on the Weichrauch scope mounts, and love it! never had any more problems and can hit less then dime size bulls eyes at 40 yards all day long with a modified bench rest. Any way whatever works, works! have fun!
