Good Points

Great three cylinder turbo diesel engine that I thought gave good performance and nice feel, despite what "Top Gear" said to the contrary. Car is beautifully made and paint good, if a little orange peel in finish. Interior trim OK and cloth upholstery hard wearing and good looking. Great 5 year warranty...that is until you find that in the USA they get a 10 year warranty and the cars are cheaper.


Bad Points

Gearbox sometimes gives poor change (feels as though clutch not fully disengaged (it was). Had to go in three times for failed clutch hydraulics, until its fault was solved (this is separate to the gearbox issue). Hatchback seals occasionally let in water, but cured by cleaning seals with addition of "Vinyl and Rubber Care" from Autoglym. Radio Cassette needed replacement due to fault.


General Comments

Generally happy with the Hyundai Accent but I felt the gearbox was a weak point waiting to go wrong in expensive style. I know that it is a failing on earlier cars which I was told by the dealer was put right on much later models. He was trying to sell me one at the time!
