General Comments

I own one Siamese fighting male, and from my experience I find that this breed is one of the best tropical fish someone can care for, and the most rewarding. They are so attractive, fun and loving. Mine is a very dark blue bodied fish, with light blue and red fins. I have been able to train my fish to follow my finger through obstacles, and I am always able to get the full attention of the fish. They are an easy breed to keep, as they don't require any apparatus.

My next step is to change the Beta's diet to live foods (shrimp), which I hope will extend the lifespan. Then I am planning to breed, which I understand clearly through research, but I am uncertain as to whether it is best to remove the male or the female from the tank containing the bubblenest, as I have come across mixed reviews.

You should remove the female and leave the male with the bubble nest as the male guards it. He will be happier near it.
