The on screen summary of the various scene settings are very simple and informative. The Simple Mode makes the camera very easy to use.
Bad Points
The picture quality is very poor in low lighting conditions. If you are taking pictures indoors of people you mostly get some blurring within the image and if you use the optical zoom also, the picture quality and blurring gets even worse. Best setting I have found for indoor use is the 'High Sens' but even then it doesn't stop the blurring.
General Comments
The DMC-LZ5 has some good features such as the various scene choices and the simple mode. It is very easy to use BUT the picture quality indoors is so bad that I have reverted back to using my Fuji FinePix A202 which was a much cheaper camera but gets better indoor results.
When there is lots of sunshine outdoors the pictures come out well but its just not a good all rounder camera. It is not a camera I would recommend.
