Good Points

Good service.
Lovely, old-style country house hotel located in beautiful grounds. Lovers of oak panelling will be in seventh heaven!
The meat and fish that we were served were well-cooked.

Bad Points

Our food was poorly prepared, and we felt it did not live up to the promises made by the menu. The things one would have expected to be served hot were cold when brought to our table. Many of the accompanying sauces and condiments tasted bland and incorrectly seasoned. The main course dish of rack of lamb was accompanied by millefeuille potatoes which had an excessive taste of fat.

General Comments

The wonderful ambiance at Camellia Restaurant, South Lodge Hotel in Lower Beeding did not compensate for the great disappointment I felt in the poor quality of the food that we were served. Both the food and the wine appeared to me to be significantly more expensive than at similar restaurants in this area.
