Philip Timms's review of The Glasshouse, Kew

“I'm writing this short review because I was nearly put...”

Good Points
My wife and I went there about 6 weeks ago and had a terrific evening, sticking to the 2 course menu. Without going into details, there were no disappointments and one real surprise - fantastic green beans. Our meat main courses were perfectly cooked. We drank half a bottle of their house champagne and half a bottle of Vaqueras - both excellent. We found no trace of a truculent sommelier.

Bad Points
The service was attentive but overdid it a bit by asking 3 or 4 times during the meal whether everything was alright - something I find particularly irritating.

General Comments
I'm writing this short review because I was nearly put off from going there by some of the more recent reviews. It did seem quite expensive but I did not begrudge the money because it was a dining experience without significant flaws which gave us a truly enjoyable night out.
