Good Points

Nice looking system. Price.


Bad Points

Bad customer service when something goes wrong. Reports of computers breaking down within a short space of time.


General Comments

We have had our Dell Dimension 5150 for approximately 14 months. We bought it straight from Dell and had no problem placing our order over the phone.
Our problems only started when we attempted to switch the computer on one morning and it was as dead as a dodo. Contacting their technical help line was a nightmare. Once through, they were unable to pinpoint the problem, there was also a slight language barrier with whoever dealt with our call. The advisor thought it would probably be the motherboard which had thrown in the towel. Only advice she gave was if it was the motherboard then it would be very expensive to replace. [thanks a lot Dell]. We were two months over our warranty!
The problem turned out not to be the motherboard, but a cable which needed replaced.
I would strongly recommend taking out an extended warranty on any Dell computer. I have been told by several owners of Dells that their computers have either broken down within the warranty time, or more annoyingly, broken down just after the warranty has expired.

    I have a Dell Dimension 5150, I am an Englishman living in the middle of France, when my computer went down after 6 months with a switching on problem.
    I was told that it would be collected within 6 days, on the sixth day I called them and they arrived the next day and returned it 3 days later.
    I was a very happy bunny until I turned it on, they had wiped the whole thing clean all my work all my photo`s even the things I had paid for and installed gone for ever.
    The company that dell use are called Banctec and when I had finished screaming down the phone at them for their sheer stupidity they told me that it was Dell policy that any computer that came in for repair had to be totally wiped clean.

    It`s not printable what I called these people and there is no compensation either from Banctec or Dell there just not interested.
