Bad Points

overheating, does not work well with the dock designed for it, screen failure, mousepad failure

General Comments

I live in New Mexico and have owned a zt1170 for over a year now. I have had the screen fail within the first 2 months and HP had it back to me within 6 working days. Their quick and helpful service kept me a fan of HP. (Another review stated that their laptop was set back to factory settings. They did inform me of this so that I could take out my hard drive before sending it.) I purchased a dock for the laptop and it will occasionally unmount all the connected devices. The USB ports sometimes will fail to respond at all. I tried another dock and it responded the same way. Occasionally the mousepad will conflict with the usb mouse and both will become disabled. The only other problem I have with it is that it will overheat and just turn off... The room is at a constent 69 desgrees, so usually I keep a fan on it when working. All in all, if you intended to do anything else but check your mail and do some word processing, this laptop is not worth what it initially appeared to be. Because of this HP product, I will never own another PC again.

That's exactly what's going on with my notebook. I have a ze5200, and I hate how it just TURNS OFF without any warning!! I also keep my room really cold, but it still overheats and turns off. The fan is so damn loud that I can't even use it at the library or even inside my classroom! It can't even keep my computer from overheating.
