General Comments

The Crosman 2240 is a accurate powerful gun. I don't think you will find a pistol as powerful in this price range - $80 CDN. There are others as fast as it but not as powerful because it shoots a heavier .22 cal pellet. The 2240 shoots a 14.3 gr. pellet at 460 fps = 6.72 foot pounds you may find other pellet pistols shoot as high as 523 fps but only in .177. A 7.9 gr .177 cal pellet going 525 fps has 4.84 foot pounds, that is a difference of 1.88 foot pounds or 38%. I would consider that significant. All that aside, power doesn't mean any thing if you can't hit your target. I have been able to get consistent 3/4" five shot groups at 22' (the largest range my basement will accommodate). It took a little work and practice to get to that point. The rear sight was not fun to work with. To adjust windage you have to loosen a screw on the sight and move it in the opposite direction you want your group to move. The sight has a tendency to move back to center as you tighten the screw. This makes it very trying to get your groups on target, hopefully you will only have to go through this once, but a easier to adjust rear sight would be a welcome upgrade.
I have used this gun to take care of a little squirrel problem, make sure you don't try to hit them further than the distance you can continually hit a dime. I was a little turned off by CO2 at first but it really doesn't use a lot, you get about 40-50 full power shots from one CO2. And you can get CO2 for less than a buck each.

If you call Crosman Canada you can order a steel breech, and a 14 inch 2289 barrel, which will take your 2240 to a different level. It is much quieter;hits a lot harder, and accuracy sharpens considerably.

Thanks I do plan on upgrading my 2240, but first I wanted to review it as is.
