Usual intuitive AutoCAD interface.
Most changes from previous version are cosmetic.
I use AutoCAD for my work on a daily basis, although I wouldn't say I'm an expert as I only use the relatively basic commands, enough to draw most things in 2D. I therefore can't review the more complex aspects of AutoCAD but I think I'm in a position to give a considered opinion.
Starting out with AutoCAD LT 2007 was a bit of a shock having been used to the 2005 release. The graphical interface is a lot more flashy, with updated symbols and toolbars, and drawing lines are highlighted when you pass the mouse cursor over them. While this latter feature is useful for identifying which line you're about to click on if there's multiple lines very close together, I have found it an issue when you have a block consisting of a lot of lines, because it takes my computer a while to highlight the whole block. This means you constantly have to stop and wait for the machine to stop thinking. While I'm on the subject of speed, this programme eats a lot more memory than the previous version. It takes at least a minute and a half to load up.
Also frustrating is the system for inputting coordinates, which has gone from a perfectly simple system to a very counter-intuitive one. Why should you have to press the hash (#) key before entering any coordinates?!
Luckily, most of the annoying features can be switched off through the menus, so you can revert everything to the old style if you wish. This leaves you wondering why you bothered upgrading in the first place though!
In general, despite the negatives, AutoCAD LT 2007 is just as good as previous versions, and therefore a user-friendly programme. It's just that this version does not represent a significant leap forward.
