Good Points

The staff are amazingly friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble, although a good tip here and there goes down a treat. The location is seconds away from the beach and at this time of year the sea is lovely and warm. The food in all the restaurants is fantastic and nobody could say that there was nothing they liked. In the main (non bookable buffet) restaurant, there were pizza making stations, fresh sea food and steak grills, fresh salad bars and crepe making stations. The food was not left standing for hours and hours and was constantly being replenished. Rooms were as previous poster states okay, the bathroom grouting could have done with re- doing and the rooms did smell damp, but after requesting some incense sticks this soon disappeared.

Bad Points

The public areas are very hot in the evening, and even though I was wearing jungle formula I still got bitten by midges about 60 times- only one mozzie bite tho.
They don't have fans in the main bar, so people tended to use the drinks menu instead!
At this time of year the resort was looking a bit tired - paint flaking off the pool bar area.

General Comments

This really is a 5* resort in my view. The second week of our holiday the louder sort of holiday makers arrived, but it's far too hot for them to become too roudy (grin). I don't think they can get round the damp smell in the rooms as I think this is due to the high humidity of the island, however, do get yourself a good stock of your favourite incense burners and the room takes on a really healthy smell after about 2 days. (sandlewood was good).
Take and wear as much insect repellent as you can, and also some spray for your room - the maids leave the doors open when they are cleaning so that is when the blighters get in.
Do not leave designer T shirts in your room - some of our party had them removed by an unknown person.
If you want to be really kind - take some old childrens clothes, sanitary wear, soaps and smellies as these are sought after items in Cuba.
Other than that, its a fantastic place to stay and will certainly be returning!
