Good Points

Possibly the best engine configuration ever.
Smooth linear power delivery.
Great build quality.

Bad Points

A little cramped for anyone over 6ft tall.
Honda don't make them anymore.

General Comments

The Honda VFR in any of its incarnations with the exception of the Vtec, is in my humble opinion one of the best bikes in the world for those of us that are honest enough with themselves to admit that they are never going to have the ability to take a modern supersports 1000 to its limits, especially on a public road.
I have owned my current one for about a year now and ride it almost every day during the summer months and as much as the Scottish Highland weather will allow during the winter. Unlike many bikes a good sprinkling of salt and rain has not managed to seriously damage its finish. The fork legs are a little pitted and one or two of the engine bolts are showing signs of wear but the old girl still polishes up like new.
I have owned other bikes but I have yet to ride one that can beat the VFR for all round versatility.
I have ridden bikes that go round corners better but the trade off for comfort is too great.
I have ridden more comfortable bikes but then they didn't go round corners.
I have ridden bikes with more power but most of the time you can't use it.
Their are other sports tourers out there but none that tick as many boxes as the VFR.
The bike is not perfect but its about as close as any manufacturer has managed too get.
I am not one for modifying my motorcycles but it should be compulsory for all pre vtec VFR owners to ditch the standard exhaust for one that can be heard. Also a taller screen and bar risers have made very long distances much more comfortable and less tiring.

I have owned a vfr 750 and a vfr 800 and am still riding the 800. What an excellent bike it does everything well, never throws a wobbler or makes any big complaints when I get my line wrong and have to break late or on a bend. It may not be a super sports but not many cars can out accelerate me so I say buy one before there are no decent ones left.
