Well made, heavy, accurate, feels and looks like the real steel, beautiful trademarks, super powerful for a pistol (the same power as the S&W 1911 Ultra Grade), adjustable sights, a joy to shoot.
The gun has a metal, double-sided thumb safety that rubs the base of my thumb when I cock it. The S&W 1911 does not have this, so it doesn't rub. Also, over time I'm afraid that the chrome colored finish will wear through.
For those of you who have been agonizing over whether to buy this gun or the black matte finish S&W 1911 Ultra Grade, the two are identical in terms of velocity and power. Both shoot with amazing accuracy with .25 g BB's, but .20's curve upward, and forget about using .12's. My son has the Smith, and I have this Colt. The clips are interchangeable, and when I'm using his S&W clip with the extra weight at the bottom, my Colt is the heavier of the two by about 1/8 ounce. When we simultaneously fire perpendicularly at a stockade fence 100 feet away with identical BB's, they hit the wall in unison. The difference is in the finish.
Both guns are beautiful, but the Colt has the appearance edge, in my opinion. It has a lot of external steel parts, such as the double thumb safety, trigger, hammer, barrel parts, etc. If you remove the orange tip, it will look just like the real Colt, and that might get you shot by the police. Like the Smith, the actual gun shell is ABS plastic. In the case of the Colt, it looks just like metal, but I'm worried about the chrome finish (paint) wearing off, so I'm searching for the softest holster I can buy. In any event, this and the Smith are down to around $40 at a Depot53, which makes them a much better buy than a $20 lightweight.
For durability of finish, get the Smith. If beauty is important to you, get the Colt. The Colt is also better suited for adult-size hands.
