Great workmanship, beautiful wood, good shooter.
Lousy matte finish on the wood, looks like they slapped a single coat of some kind of oil on it. Pistol grip is a bit of an handful.
I popped for the Venom version of the Tomahawk, purchased from Mac1. I am not really a springer shooter, preferring CO2 or PCP, but I love the concept of the springer so I decided to try this one out. So far, so good. I am still in the springer learning curve, and my Tomahawk is still in the breaking in stage (under 1000 shots), but so far I rather like this gun. It kicks hard, putting out just about exactly 20 fpe, and its lightness amplifiys the kick, but I opted for the Tomahawk over a Pro Elite specifically because it is almost 2 lbs. lighter, while only sacraficing about 30 or 40 fps to the Elite.
The Tomahawk has tons of power considering its light weight. I am intermittently able to shoot dime sized groups at 30 yards. I hope in time I will become more consistant. As I mentioned above, the pistol grip design leaves something to be desired, and there is not much that can be done to reshape it because of the checkering in that area, but although it is too big, I expect I will get used to it in time. I bought this Tomahawk specifically for hunting and I think it is just about perfect for that purpose. Should be good out to at least 50 yards.
