Good Points

Reliability.
Powerful engine.
Leather seats.
Electric sunroof.
electric windows front and back


Bad Points

Saloon style with restricted opening to the boot so cannot carry large loads even though it's a big car.
The back seats do fold down completely but only helps with long loads
I couldn't get a new adult bicycle in the car without taking the front wheel off at the shop.


General Comments

My husband bought a Honda Accord new in July 2000 and I have had it since May 2004. The car has just passed it's MOT with flying colours again. The only time it has been in the garage was when the air conditioning hose split last year.

The 2.0 VTEC engine is very free revving and smooth. At low speeds it doesn't seem that special but if you accidentally put your foot down hard the VTEC kicks in and it takes off. The clutch is a bit heavy and my ankle sometimes aches if I have been in traffic for a long time.

The seats are very comfortable and do not make my back ache even after a couple of hours on the motorway. They are upholstered in a lovely rutched cream leather.

The only thing I don't like is the saloon style. Not because it doesn't look attractive but because the boot access is quite limited. This does make the car very strong but you can't get large boxes in the boot. For example, we brought a 26" TV home in the boot of our old Citroen Xantia, you wouldn't get it in the back of the Honda although the car is the same size.

I would certainly consider buying another Honda Accord but only in hatchback!
