“The car was ok given that it was a diesel and not the...”

Good Points
The car was ready and waiting on the forecourt.

Bad Points
We had been assured of a Vauxhall Corsa or Ford Fiesta petrol - we got a Toyota Yaris diesel. We were not told that once we were halfway through the paperwork and committed to taking the car the salesman then coerced me into a top up insurance cover charge on top of the car rental (every other place we've rented a car from has full comp cover included) that added an extra £10.00 per day - but we felt we had to pay this because I did not want to risk having to pay a £500 excess fee should anything happen. I felt pressured and disappointed that they had not been up front about the insurance charges prior to doing the paperwork.

General Comments
The car was ok given that it was a diesel and not the make I had requested or had been told I would have.

Before we got in and drove away the employee asked us to have a 'quick look round, make sure you're happy with the car and there are no faults'. We had a good look round and I noticed a scrape on the rear. I was puzzled why this was not pointed out to me by Enterprise but left to me to find it, as they said they had all their cars' faults logged in their computer system. I started to feel uneasy.

We drove the car for two days. During the two days it had been well parked in good size parking spaces in two beach car parks. When we came back from the beach on each occasion the cars on either side of our car were the same vacant cars that had been there all day i.e. I had parked between cars already there and had driven away before the cars on either side so assume that as most people stayed on beach all day no-one would have opened doors onto our car. At night the car was parked with its right side against a kerb so again no possibility of another car door hitting it.

Before returning the car we checked that all was as we found it, filled it with diesel (all over my hands yuk and diesel makes passengers in the back feel sick) and returned it to Enterprise where a different employee checked it over.

Lo and behold he found a microscopic dent on the right hand side and do you know what - he found it straightaway, as if he knew it was already there! Uncanny eh?

He said it must have happened when I parked it, someone must have opened their door onto it, hinting that perhaps I'd parked it too close to another vehicle, which in the light of what I've written above is just rubbish. I told him that we had had to point out the scrape to the other guy so that 'dent' could well have been there all along and none of us had seen it at the time of picking up the car.

He seemed to think this was impossible as they keep 'scrupulous records'. But, as he said, what a good thing we had paid a huge insurance hike to avoid paying £100 to have the dent hammered out.

I didn't have to pay anything more because I'd paid full insurance but had to sign THREE forms so they could get it repaired and was left feeling bullied. I will never rent from Enterprise again.
